Clayton AhQuin Junior

Clayton AhQuin Jr. - Executive Director

Clayton Jr. along side his father Clayton Sr. have developed a way in helping teens through Love, Honor and Respect. Clayton Jr. has worked with the State of Utah in creating the "Clear the Air"" campaign, which is a no-smoking and no-tobacco project. He has been involved in the development of young men in various programs for the past 18 years. Mr. AhQuin has a great ability to reach a wide variety of boys in the program through a great love of his, which is music. Teaching the guitar, playing the piano, and giving vocal instruction on his free time with many of the boys is a time he looks forward to. Clayton has been married for 18 years to his beautiful wife Julee. He is the very proud father of 5 beautiful children, which to him is where true happiness lies.

Clayton AhQuin Senior

Clayton AhQuin Sr. - Activities Director

Clay's fun loving personality and affinity for hard work compliment his strong belief that there is a time for work and a time for play. Clay has planned many fun activities -- hiking, boating, wake boarding, swimming, sports, sightseeing, etc. -- as well as educational activities such as working out at the gym, visiting local businesses, touring historic sites, and building a rock wall. Clay believes in strengthening the body as well as the mind while life skills lessons are being taught. Clay's true passion comes through spending time with his 7 kids (4 boys, 3 girls), 24 grandkids and the love of his life, Irene... ALOHA!

Parker Haslam

Parker Haslam - Program Director

Parker Haslam is our Program Director. Parker is 28 years old, growing up in Salt Lake City and Hurricane, Utah. He graduated locally from Hurricane High School and loves the community. Parker married the perfect woman for him in 2005 and began schooling to pursue a degree in criminal justice. He has been working with troubled youth for since 2003 and enjoys what he does. He has had to opportunity to serve as a Proctor Parent in his own home and understands the difficulties that troubled teens bring to the home environment. He draws upon many experiences gained while serving two years in a third world country as a missionary. He acquired several problem solving skills and an ability to use Spanish as a fluid second language. Parker looks forward to life's challenges and embraces the moral satisfaction that follows any victory over such obstacles.

Thane Palmer

Thane Palmer - Clinical Therapist

Thane has a B.S. degree in Family Science from Brigham Young University and a M.S. degree from Utah State University in Family and Human Development with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Utah. Thane has been working with adolescents and their families as a therapist for over 14 years and has broad experience in working with addiction issues, depression, family and relationship problems, and other mental health issues. Prior to receiving his degrees, Thane and his wife worked as structured foster parents and had numerous children and adolescents come through their home. Thane and his wife have 8 children and 5 grandchildren. Thane is active in the community as a volunteer coach, Boy Scout Leader, and is a youth leader in his church. Thane also actively plays sports, mostly rugby and basketball, and spends a lot of his spare time backpacking and canyoneering.

Dr. Brent Price

Dr. T. Brent Price Ph.D., LCSW - Therapist

Dr. Price has worked at Liahona Academy for the past 9 years. He received his masters’ degree in social work from the University of Utah. He received his Ph.D. in clinical social work from the University of Denver. He attended Smith College to study family systems theory. Dr. Price has worked with adolescents and their families for most of his career. He has worked in the field of mental health with adolescents with addictions, youth corrections, with families who struggle with acting out children, divorce, loss and grieving. Dr. Price has treated a broad range of issues with adolescents and their parents. Dr. Price is licensed in the state of Utah as a Clinical Social Worker and as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

Brad Christensen

Dr. Brad Christensen - Head Schoolmaster

Brad Christensen has been the Headmaster at Liahona Academy since it opened. He has over 20 years experience in education as a teacher, consultant, coach, and administrator. Brad has education degrees from Dixie College, Memphis State University, Brigham Young University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals (UASSP) Assistant Principal of the Year and currently serves on the board of the Utah Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (UASCD). He has volunteered in many church and community organizations including Boy Scouts and Rotary International. Brad lived for several months in Taiwan and speaks Mandarin Chinese. He and his wife have 3 children.

Julie Sanders

Julie Sanders - Teacher

Julie Sanders was raised in Overgaard, Arizona. She met her husband in Hurricane, Utah. She has three children. Julie has a bachelors degree in accounting. At Liahona Academy Julie is a great asset for the students due to her multiple skills in Mathematics, Chemistry, History and Science. Julie has been with Liahona Academy for over two years. She enjoys working with the students on a daily basis. Some of Julie's favorite past times are painting, cooking, traveling and four wheeling.

Tom Roberts

Tom Roberts - Director of Education

Tom Roberts is the Director of Education here at Liahona. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and majored in Technology Education. He has also received his Master degree in Educational Leadership, and is currently working on getting an endorsement in English as a Second Language. He is 37 years old and has taught in public school system for 8 years and love’s it. Tom grew up in Plano, Texas and Mesa, Arizona. He moved to Utah to go to school and met his wife who was also an Education major. They have been married for 10 years and have 3 kids. Tom enjoys antique cars. His most recent project is a 1961 MGA roadster that he and his daughter are working on. They hope to complete it by her 16th birthday.

Taylor Jacobson

Taylor Jacobson - Office Manager and Case Manager

Taylor is a native of Utah; he grew up in St. George and Kaysville. Taylor graduated high school from Davis High in 2000. Shortly after graduating high school he started working with troubled youth. Taylor took a short break from work and school for two years to serve as a missionary in the mid west. After having returned and while attending Dixie State College in the pursuit of a Psychology degree, Taylor met his wonderful wife. In 2004 they were married and now are the proud parents of Addi and Payson. Having children of his own, Taylor understands the stresses and joys of being a parent. Since he first started working with troubled youth in 2000, Taylor has enjoyed the challenges and rewards of helping these youth.

Warren Williams

Warren Williams - Case Manager

Warren Williams is a Case Manager and Supervisor at the program. Warren is 30 years old and a native to Southern Utah. Coming from a large family, he understands the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with family members. Warren graduated from Hurricane High School and is currently pursuing a career in Psychology. He has been with Liahona since 2008 and feels strongly that his job is very rewarding. Warren married his high school sweetheart eight years ago and they have three beautiful children: Ashton (7), Avery (5), Haven (1). He loves being a father and finds the joy helping our students aTs well as his children through their every day lives.

Carolyn Callahan

Carolyn Callahan - Case Management

Carolyn Callahan was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado and at 17 moved to Southern Utah (St. George ) with her family in 1973. She then finished high school, attended Dixie State College, met her husband, got married and has four beautiful daughters and seven grandchildren, who all live in the area so she gets to spend a lot of time with them. Carolyn has worked with youth for 13 years, starting with being a proctor parent for teens in her home. She then went to working in a Youth Residential Facility for the last 11 years. Carolyn came to Liahona in August of 2010 and we are very pleased to have her as an addition to our success.
